Hey folks, Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Appreciate any input. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I work in real estate here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is tough. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 49, moved here 15 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Riverside and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited shopping options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
