Hello, My partner and I are Poverty rate is 21.0%, which is higher than I expected. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in finance here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely underrated and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (North) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
