Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $49,190 in Winchester. Rent is about $1,152/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..
