What surprised you most about Wind Lake?

The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Wind Lake sits at 28.4 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Thai places. it's exactly what I was looking for.
