Windsor is underrated, change my mind

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a college student here and With a population of 35,918, Windsor is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 35,918 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much manageable but now it's hit or miss.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
