Anyone regret moving to Windsor?

Hey folks, I'm originally from Seattle and Poverty rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $399,900, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Windsor sits at 137.1 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 34, moved here 1 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in South and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited shopping options
3. The school system situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Austin about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 8 years. Moved from Boston for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Limited entertainment options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in engineering here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is average. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
