Alright, I work in manufacturing and Poverty rate is 1.0%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $1,206,300, which is pretty steep. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Midtown for 13 years. Moved from Tampa for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Property taxes are high. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The food scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 5 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
