Best companies to work for in Winston-Salem?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $208,200, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'm a chef and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Riverside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The public transit scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for family and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
