Housing in Winston-Salem compared to Charlotte

Hey everyone, With a population of 251K, Winston-Salem is a mid-size city. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. TIA!

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.
