Winston-Salem is underrated, change my mind

Curious what people think. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much affordable but now it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from New York about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
