Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $1,727/month for a decent place. With a population of 47,182, Winter Garden is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,727 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cost of living is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Sunset for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- The safety scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
