Winterville quality of life -am I missing something?

Hello, I work in engineering and Homes are going for about $226,600 on average. Median household income is $82,783, which feels pretty solid for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
