What I wish I knew before living in Winthrop Town

Hey, I've been here for 16 years and It's a a small town city with about 18,807 people. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $606,900, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts? Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's tough.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 14 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is solid and there's always something going on.
