Freelancing from Wister -experience?

Hey everyone, We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $35,655 in Wister. It's a a small town city with about 1,103 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What do you all think? Thanks in advance!

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 13 years. Moved from Chicago for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Dating scene is rough. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 7 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
