I've lived in Midtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- The cost of living scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 12 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..
