Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 4.7%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Would love some local perspective. I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Francisco about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
