Moving from Sacramento to Woodbury next month

Hey folks, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 4.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

No regrets on my end..
