We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $1,976 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Sunset for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The nightlife scene is pretty good
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much developing but now it's hit or miss.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Eastside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
