Hey everyone, The median home value here is around $505,200, which is pretty steep. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 31, moved here 3 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in South and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The cost of living situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Baltimore about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much growing but now it's decent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
