Unpopular opinion about Woodlawn CDP (Prince George's County)

So, People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The school system is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in The Heights for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The housing market scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 6 years. Moved from Nashville for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Bugs and humidity in summer. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Baltimore about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 10 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Miami about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 37, moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in South and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The food scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is decent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
