So, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $2,519 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 18,198 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Definitely worth checking out..

Background: I'm a sales manager, 56, moved here 7 years ago from Boston. I've lived in West and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The weather situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.
