Anyone else feel this way? Homes are going for about $702,900 on average. You can expect to pay around $2,257 for rent here. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Woodmoor sits at 136.1 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Has anyone dealt with this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community vibe is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Charlotte about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Cedar Grove for 8 years. Moved from Raleigh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
