Honest thoughts on life in Woodstock

Alright, We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $1,735 for rent here. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Woodstock sits at 116.5 per 100K. Rent is about $1,735/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,297 people. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in South for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- The food scene scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
