Unpopular opinion about Woodstock

Longtime lurker here, I've been here for 9 years and Rent is about $1,735/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,297 people. Household incomes average around $105,396 in Woodstock. The median home value here is around $387,300, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Limited dining options
- Not enough green space
Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I've lived in East for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The safety scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great craft beer places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely pretty good and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Asian places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely improving and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
