Best and worst neighborhoods in Woodstock

OK so I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $231,100, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 5.8%, which is pretty low. With a population of 26,316, Woodstock is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $231,100 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Far from major airports
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in North for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Meadowbrook area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The public transit is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 2 years. Moved from San Diego for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not very walkable outside downtown. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
