Honest thoughts on life in Worcester

Been meaning to ask this. I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,415/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a electrician and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The school system is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
