Job market in Worcester for tech?

Hi all, With a population of 206K, Worcester is a mid-size city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'm a teacher and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 26, moved here 14 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Old Town and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The food scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for retirement and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The community vibe is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I've lived in West for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The food scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
