Considering World Golf Village vs Salt Lake City -help me decide

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a 30-year-old accountant and The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $447,900 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a writer and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 15 years. Moved from Miami for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited high-paying job options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

it depends on the neighborhood

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Nashville about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
