Things that make Wrangell unique

Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are Average temperature is around 45--F, so bundle up in winter. Household incomes average around $64,545 in Wrangell. Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $64,545, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 27, moved here 3 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Greenfield and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Close to major attractions
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cultural scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
