Is Wurtsboro a good place to live?

OK so We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $214,500 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The walkability scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Baltimore about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 49, moved here 14 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Highland and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The cost of living situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
