Best kept secrets of Wyandotte, MI

Curious what people think. The median home value here is around $159,700, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $995/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is average.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
