I've lived in Westside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- The community vibe scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Portland it's challenging.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Korean places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (East) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The weather scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
