Alright, You can expect to pay around $1,141 for rent here. Median household income is $72,163, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Springfield for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
