Hi all, Household incomes average around $54,616 in Xenia. Rent is about $895/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $895 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.
