Grocery stores in Yakima -recommendations?

Hey, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $273,400, which seems about average. Homes are going for about $273,400 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 54, moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Highland area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Midtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
