Is Yakima worth it salary-wise?

I'm retired and Poverty rate is 12.1%, which is around average. You can expect to pay around $1,075 for rent here. The median home value here is around $273,400, which seems about average. Median household income is $59,228, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 15 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
