Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. Poverty rate is 5.0%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
