Housing market in Yonkers — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $478,000. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1730.

Is now a good time to buy in Yonkers? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

The job market has been improving lately. Several finance companies moved in recently.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

As someone who moved here from Denver, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

I've lived in Westside for 9 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

Check out the Downtown area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

I've lived in Oakwood for 6 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

If you can afford it, Lakewood is the best place to live. Period.
