How much do you pay for rent in Yonkers?

People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Denver it's better than expected.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
