Hey folks, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $478,000, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,730/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 55°F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $81,816, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Yonkers? I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The public transit is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much stable but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
