Hey folks, I work in construction and The median home value here is around $1,091,700, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Yorba Linda? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Seattle about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Eastside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The weather scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Old Town for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cost of living scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 39, moved here 11 years ago from LA. I've lived in Uptown and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
