I'm retired and Rent is about $2,779/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I overthinking this? TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for work and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- The weather scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been here 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Downtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 46, moved here 9 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Greenfield and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
