Yorba Linda in the winter -how bad?

Just moved here 3 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Yorba Linda sits at 61.6 per 100K. The median home value here is around $1,091,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 67,407, Yorba Linda is a smaller city. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Is this normal for Yorba Linda? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 46, moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Midtown and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The cost of living situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 34, moved here 12 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Vietnamese places. I love the pace of life here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
