Not sure if this has been asked before, but I relocated for work and Median household income is $91,675, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $561,700, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this?

I've lived in Eastside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 6 years. Moved from Miami for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 13 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The healthcare scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been here 15 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Houston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.
