I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -York sits at 882.8 per 100K. Rent is about $958/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
