Hello, I'm originally from Austin and Homes are going for about $103,100 on average. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 44,830 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to San Diego it's excellent.
