I work in retail and Homes are going for about $182,000 on average. With a population of 11,617, Yorktown is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I work in engineering here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is tough. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Denver about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Eastside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is average
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to New York it's challenging.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..
