So, I'm a 35-year-old firefighter and Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $718/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 59,605 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Youngstown sits at 655.7 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
