Housing market in Youngsville right now

Been meaning to ask this. With a population of 16,664, Youngsville is a small town. Poverty rate is 7.9%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 16,664 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
