Just moved here 1 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Yucaipa sits at 370.6 per 100K. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,661/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Yucaipa? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up.
